Lanka IOC PLC, a subsidiary of Indian Oil Corporation, operates 211 retail petrol and diesel stations across Sri Lanka. Established in 2003, it became the sole private sector entity in the country's fuel retailing, with Indian Oil Company holding a majority of its stock. Following the Sri Lankan government's 2002 decision to liberalize the petroleum sector, Indian Oil Corporation invested Rs. 10 billion (US$62 million in the first phase, with an additional US$38 million in the second phase). This investment included the acquisition of 100 fuel stations from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, marking a significant expansion in Sri Lanka's fuel distribution network. |
